Art History: Capturing the Moving Image

Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018    6–8pm

In 1878, photographer Eadweard Muybridge captured what the human eye could not perceive—a fully airborne horse, galloping with all four feet off the ground. Investigate how artists in our collection incorporated and responded to the rapid technological advancements of the early 20th century, contributing to our changing perception of the world. Art History is an ongoing educational series delves deeper into the MSU Broad Collection.

Want more? Get hands-on with a photography process of the late-19th century at our Tintype Portraiture workshop on August 25!

This event will be held at the MSU Broad Art Lab, located across the street from the museum at 565 E Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI 48824.
