Textile Workshop: Kitchen Dyeing Techniques with Adventure Textiles

Saturday, Apr. 10, 2021    1–4pm

Turn your kitchen into a textile laboratory during this exciting exploration of natural dyes. Stemming from the exhibition Seeds of Resistance, discover how common food waste can be transformed into beautiful dye bases with Megan Williams of Adventure Textiles. Use natural materials such as avocado pits, black tea, and onion skin along with modifiers to create variations of color on a variety of fiber samples. You’ll walk away with a collection of dye tests and a set of beautifully hand-dyed cotton napkins perfect for any table setting.

Registration for this online event is required. Cost of registration ($45) covers instruction and a material kit. Participants are required to provide their own avocado pits, onion skins, and pots used for dyeing. The registration deadline is April 5, 2021. Register here.

This online event will take place on Zoom.
