Postponed: Embroidery Workshop: Visible Mending

Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022    1–4pm

With public health and safety in mind, we have postponed this event. We plan to reschedule for a later date, to be confirmed.

Renew, refresh, and refurbish your beloved clothing with visible mending techniques, led by Seams Fabric owner Jessy Gregg. In an era of fast fashion when landfills and donation bins are full of unwanted cast-offs, mending your clothes can be an act of revolution. In this workshop, work through basic embroidery stitches that can be used to turn your patching into miniature, wearable artworks. Instructor Jessy Gregg is an artist, owner of Seam’s Fabric, and current Pro Tem Mayor of the City of East Lansing. She brings a special blend of subversive creativity and ingenuity to all of her projects.

The workshop registration fee ($45) includes instruction and a kit containing all materials, supplied by Seams Fabric. The workshop will cover running, back, satin, and buttonhole stitches for those new to embroidery. Registration for this event is required. The registration deadline is Jan. 17, 2022.

Held at the MSU Broad Art Lab, located directly across the street from the museum at 565 E Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI 48823.
