FOCUS TOUR: Idlewild + Black Spaces

Wednesday, May. 26, 2021    4–5pm

One artwork. One guest. One theme. In May, we’ll look at archival materials from the Black resort town Idlewild, Michigan, featured in the exhibition InterStates of Mind. Filmmaker Dr. Jeff Wray from the MSU Department of English will join us for this unconventional tour discussing the significance of Black spaces and his personal connection to Idlewild.

This monthly tour series offers a close look at one work of art on view at the MSU Broad. Join our Director of Education Michelle Word as she talks with an invited expert who will bring their unique perspectives and knowledge to the conversation, sharing relevant cultural, scientific, and historical context that brings into focus the artwork’s timely themes.

This is a Facebook Live event. Tune in here
